Mac Vs. PC Vs. Linux The end all debate.

This would be in computer section except we don't have a proper section there for this.

Mac:
The only reason it doesn't get as many viruses is because no one cares to make viruses for Macs. When you make a virus it is for one of two reasons: Destroy specific computer. Or destroy as many computers as possible. Most make viruses for the second reason. Since there are not nearly as many Macs as PCs people do not write for Mac.

The only reason people think Mac is "faster" Is because apple has the luxury of making the operating system for a few sets of hardware configurations. (about 15 or so) Where as Microsoft has to make their operating system compatible with millions of different hardware configs. Windows 7 will even run all the way back to pentium one procs.

Macs are more secure. That statement is total bull. They are just as secure as windows but since no one in the exploit writing community gives a shit about Macs. No eploits are ever actually used. (Although in '07 Mac had the most unpatched exploits of any OS)

Macs Don't crash as much. Yeah well my tricycle doesn't crash as much as my motorcycle either. The reason Macs don't crash as much as PCs is because Apple treats it's customers like children. They purposely make it hard for the user to change anything that might possibly make the system crash.

Macs don't ever crash. Really? Did you read the above statement/ It's called Kernel Crash look it up.

PC:

There are so many viruses! So get a damn anti-virus and browse safely. The only time you get a virus it is your fault for looking at porn and going to shifty websites.

Everything is so much slower. I thought we went over this? Don't have 80 apps running or get a better machine. Problem solved.

Everything is so hard to learn. ...The hell are you talking about? 4 year olds can use PCs if your really having a problem learning you should probably just an hero.

Bonus for PC: something breaks; You can fix it! I know sounds scary right? But I suppose you'd rather take your Mac to a Mac "genius" and get it back $200 and 3 weeks later right?


Linux:

This is truly the only OS that has more security than the other two. Why? Well for a virus to do anything to your sytem it would have to request access to root. All you have to do is not enter your password and your done. If however you give a virus root access (which is the computer equivalent of giving a serial killer a gun) then your system is just as susceptible as Mac or PC.

Linux has to deal with the same problem as Windows does in that it has to be able to run on millions of hardware configs. Linux however does it very very well. In some distros it will even run on an ancient 8086 processor no video card and 12mb ram.

Linux has it's downfalls with compatibility and support however. (Both of which it is lacking hugely in)



Overall:
Mac: Over priced. Only runs on certain hardware. Very low customization.
PC: Cheaper. Lots of customization. Little bit harder than Mac perhaps.
Linux: Free. Tons upon tons of customization. Harder to install. Runs on really old hardware.

All: Preferably i would like all of linux's properties with the support and compatibility of Windows. Only then will we have a flawless OS.
